High-Voltage 5-A Integrated Power Controllers

March 06, 2016 by Jeff Shepard

Silego Technology announced an expansion of its state-of-the-art integrated power controller portfolio with a new family of high-performance, high-voltage integrated power controllers. Designed for all high-side, 4.5-V to 24-V power rail applications and using Silego's proprietary MOSFET design IP, this new family of power controllers achieves ultra-stable 13.3mΩ Rds(on) across a wide input/supply voltage range and over temperature. Using Silego's proprietary CuFET™ technology, these new products require only a 4.8mm² footprint and exhibit low thermal resistance for high-current operation.

Compared to discrete FETs currently used in high-voltage applications, Silego's new HFET1 products combine high-performance nFET structures, charge pumps, multiple protection and control circuits into small-footprint, feature-rich, single-channel products. Designed to operate over a -40 to 85 degrees C range, these new high-voltage integrated power control switches are available in low thermal resistance, RoHS-compliant packaging.

Silego’s first set of high-voltage products include: the SLG59H1005V with a Vin range of 4.5V to 22V, Rds(on) of 53mΩ, reverse current blocking, and a MOSFET Ids output monitor; the SLG59H1006V with a Vin range of 4.5V to 22V, Rds(on) of 13.3mΩ, no reverse current blocking and a MOSFET Ids output monitor; the SLG59H1007V with a Vin range of 4.5V to 22V, Rds(on) of 13.3mΩ no reverse current blocking and a Load Power (Vin x Ids) output monitor; and the SLG59H1008V1 with a Vin range of 12V or 24V, Rds(on) of 13.3mΩ, no reverse current blocking and a MOSFET Ids output monitor.

Key features included in this new family of high-performance, high-current power control products are: High-performance nFET MOSFETs; Low RDSON: 13.3mΩ at Vin = 24V; Ultra-low ΔRds(on)/ΔVIN: <0.05 mΩ/V; Ultra-low ΔRds(on)/ΔT: <0.06 mΩ/degree C; Internal Protection Features; Automatic nFET SOA Protection; Pin-programmable Overvoltage and Undervoltage Lockout Windows; Fixed and capacitor-programmable Inrush Current Control; Fixed and resistor-programmable Current Limit; Short-circuit Current; Thermal Shutdown; Fast Vout Discharge; Open-drain FAULT Signaling; and MOSFET Ids Analog Current or Output Load Power Monitors

Targeted applications addressed by these new devices include: High Voltage Power-Rail Switching; 12V, 15V, and 20V Point-of-Load Power Distribution; Multifunction Printers; Large-format Copiers; Enterprise Networking Equipment; Enterprise Computing Equipment; and Motor Drives.
