PMIC enables 10X Smaller Inductor plus 5X Bandwidth

SiBreeze Technologies, a developer of leading-edge proprietary technologies and IC products for power management applications, today announced the release of its ground breaking product the Si117 power management IC (PMIC) featuring SLIM SWITCHER ™ and BEST SWITCHER ™ technologies.

Highlights of the technology include:

"Our technologies are beneficial to a wide range of applications ranging from reducing energy wastage in Data Centers to enabling slimmer form factor devices with increased battery run time in mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) applications," said Kotikalapoodi.

Features of the Si117 include:

  • 5V to 14V input voltage switching regulator IC for mobile battery charging applications with 24V hold-off
  • 10x smaller inductor value at the same switching frequency than existing solutions
  • 10x smaller inductor CDR - 3x charge current capability for the inductor
  • Increased voltage headroom with 10x smaller inductor DCR allows increased faster charge currents even with 5V standard charger input
  • 5x faster response at a given switching frequency - ultra-fast transient response for dynamic system loads
  • Instant charge - real, safe fast charge with decreased thermals, while other solutions are severely thermal limited by inductor DCR.
