Power Integrations Inc. (San Jose, CA) announced the availability of new design support tools that simplify the design of complex forward converter power supplies using the company’s TOPSwitch®-GX high-voltage power conversion ICs. The new design accelerator kit (DAK-12) is a comprehensive reference design kit containing all the engineering tools needed to design energy-efficient, multiple-output, forward converters up to 200W output power for applications such as PC and server main power supplies.

The DAK-12 features a working ATX form-factor, forward topology design, PC power supply using the company’s TOPSwitch-GX to deliver 145W continuous power (160W peak) with multiple outputs. It also includes a standby power supply using Power Integrations’ TinySwitch®-II low-power switcher IC family. The kit includes a detailed 40-page design methodology application note, a complete engineering report, data sheets and several device samples of the TOPSwitch-GX and TinySwitch-II IC families, and the company’s PI Expert™ power supply design software.

The DAK-12 is priced at $95.95 and is available now.
