Murata Adds 10A & 16A SIP Models To OKAMI PoL DC-DC Converters

March 23, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Murata Power Solutions has launched the second phase of its Okami™ range of non-isolated single point-of-load (PoL) dc-dc converters. The introduction of SIP 10 and 16A output current models follows the recent launch of 3 and 5A versions. The company claims that the new additions provide designers of equipment requiring high efficiency PoL power with an even greater choice of compact and reliable modules.

A range comprising four 10A models and four 16A models is available with either positive or negative on/off polarity and an optional sequence/track feature to control start-up time requirement. The modules can act as a drop-in replacement for other DOSA-compliant parts or be used in space constrained designs that require high density power solutions and where a short time-to-market is required.

Housed in industry-standard DOSA SIP packages measuring 50.8 x 12.7 x 9.4mm, Okami 10A and 16A dc-dc converters have a wide 8.3 to 14Vdc (nominally 12Vdc) input voltage range and a programmable output voltage of 0.75 to 5.5Vdc.

Efficiency levels are up to 94.5% and all modules in the range are able to drive 1000µF capacitive loads. This makes them well suited for powering the latest generation of FPGAs and DSPs with tight output load regulation requirements. Operating temperature range is -40 to +85°C.

The new OKAMI dc-dc converters offer what is described as exceptional thermal derating performance with over temperature and over current protection and under voltage lock out are standard features.

The modules are RoHS-compliant and are designed to meet UL/EN/IEC 60950-1 safety approvals and FCC emissions certifications.
