Micromech Announces TL Range of In-Line Torque Limiter Couplings

Micromech Ltd. (UK) has introduced a new range of in-line torque limiter couplings for use with stepper motor, servo motor and gearbox transmission applications. The new Torque-Limiter (TL) range is designed to set the maximum torque capability of a coupling within the working limits of the weakest link in the transmission system. The new TL couplings have torque ranges from 2Nm to 1,500Nm and bore sizes from 4mm to 73mm.

Four versions of the TL couplings are available. The single-position re-engagement version is designed so that when an overload has been removed, the coupling can be re-engaged precisely 360 degrees from the original displacement system. A load-holding version is also available, so that in the even of overload, the drive and driven face are not separated or are allowed only limited rotation. There is also a multi-position coupling that re-engages in the very next position, and a free-wheeling version that permanently separates when the transmission overloads.
