Micrel Semiconductor Introduces New MIC5236 Micropower LDO Regulator

March 26, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Micrel Semiconductor Inc. (San Jose, CA) recently announced the MIC5236, which is a tiny, micropower LDO regulator providing keep-alive voltage for power-sensitive notebook PCs. The device is the latest addition to the growing family of low-power LDOs from Micrel.

Targeted for power-sensitive applications, the 150mA uCap MIC5236 LDO features a tiny 20uA of quiescent current. Designed and manufactured by Micrel, the MIC5236 is available in the thermally enhanced power SO-8 and power MSOP-8 packages.

"The low quiescent current and high-input voltage capability of the MIC5236 enables this regulator to serve many applications," said Lisa Wong, product marketing engineer. One such application is providing 'keep-alive' voltages for notebook PCs. In addition to a wide input-voltage range of 2.3V to 30V, the MIC5236 is designed to withstand a voltage transient of -20V to +60V.

Pricing for the MIC5236 starts at $1.48 in quantities of 1,000 or more. Samples are currently available and production quantities are stock to eight weeks ARO.
