MCG Surge Protection Offers New SurgeFree 400XT Surge Protectors

October 15, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

MCG Surge Protection's (Deer Park, NY) new SurgeFree 400XTs are building entry/main service-panel surge protectors specifically designed for ANSI/IEEE C62.41-1991 Category C locations. When redundant protection and extensive diagnostics are mandatory, this 400kA Ipeak unit is claimed to prevent transient voltage damage and keep sensitive equipment up and running without damage or disturbance.

The unit uses six protection modules employing individually fused, monitored and thermally protected 40mm MOVs. All modes (L-N, L-G, L-L and N-G) are protected so that excess transient voltage travels away from equipment via multiple surge-current pathways. Solid copper bus-bar construction is employed to minimize impedance and to enhance current sharing.

MCG's Micro-Z cabling allows quick installation while reducing let-through voltage seen by downstream equipment. The SurgeFree 400XT is equipped with a diagnostic system that indicates the percentage of protection, the number of transients suppressed and a date/time stamp.

The units are available in 120Vac to 480Vac, 1ph to 3ph, wye and delta. Filtering is a no-charge option. Prices start at $6,500 and delivery is in stock.
