Lambda Announces the PAQ Series of Quarter-Brick DC/DC Modules

July 15, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Lambda (UK) announced a new series of ultra-compact, quarter-brick, single-output dc/dc power modules. With seven patents pending, the PAQ Series offers a power density of up to 91W per cubic inch. The series is suitable for use in a range of applications, including telecommunications, servers and industrial controls.

The PAQ Series offers two power ratings of 50W or 150W. There is a choice of five output voltages for each model, ranging from 1.2V to 5V, with intermediate output voltages of 1.8V, 2.5V and 3.3V. Output adjustment is available on all models. Nominal input is 48Vdc with a range of 36Vdc to 76Vdc.

The PAQ Series employs industry-standard footprints and pinouts. Both the PAQ50 and PAQ100 take up 36.8mm x 57.9mm x 8.5mm of board area. Baseplate-cooled versions suitable for heatsinking are available for exceptional environmental or reduced-airflow conditions. The units have an operating range of -40 to 85 degrees C and feature over-voltage, over-temperature and over-current protection. Series operation is possible, as is remote on/off control and remote sensing.
