EOS Selected to Supply V Series AC-DC Power Supplies to Zebra Technologies

March 22, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

EOS Corp. (Camarillo, CA) announced it has been selected to supply V-Series ac/dc power supplies to Zebra Technologies Corp. (Vernon Hills, IL) for its P310 and P420 plastic identification card printers. Zebra is a manufacturer and distributor of on-demand bar-code label printers, secure identification printing systems, and plastic card printers used in automatic identification and plastic card personalization applications. This is the second contract Zebra has awarded EOS in the last six months.

Zebra selected EOS' VLT100, 100W open-frame switching power supplies for use with its popular plastic identification card printers. At 3" x 5" x 1", the VLT100 has a footprint the size of a standard 60W power supply, and power densities of almost 7W per cubic inch. According to EOS, the VLT100 has efficiencies exceeding 85 percent, protecting the printer's internal componentry from thermal damage and eliminating the need for additional fans. Fewer parts and cooler operation reduce the probability of printer failure.
