Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc. announced today its PoE-powered OmniTouch 7 touchscreen has been recognized by the Consumer Electronics Association's TechHome Division with the 2014 Mark of Excellence (MOE) Award of Human Interface of Product of the Year. The Human Interface Award recognizes a product that embodies state-of-the-art ergonomics coupled with cutting-edge technology to make the human interface intuitive, functional and user-friendly. It was presented to Leviton on Jan. 8, 2014 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.

"The user-friendly Leviton OmniTouch 7 offers a variety of intuitive and customizable features allowing users to specialize the devices to their specific automation and control preferences," said Greg Rhoades, Director of Marketing for Leviton Security and Automation. "We are honored that the device was recognized and stood out among its competitors in this impressive category."

Specifications of the OmniTouch 7 touchscreen include: A PoE connection provides all power and communication. Optional 12Vdc power can be used if not utilizing PoE. Firmware updates via Ethernet. A light sensor allows automatic dimming of display backlight. The unit measures about 7.25” x 5.125” x 0.55” on exterior wall surface, and 6” x 4” x 1” behind surface of wall.

Featuring large, recognizable icons, the OmniTouch 7 touchscreen allows users to arm or disarm their Leviton security system, alert emergency personnel, lock or unlock doors and view crisp IP or analog surveillance video footage. Additionally, the device features slider bars that adjust individual light levels from zero to 100 percent; control up to 64 thermostats to manage humidity settings and additional systems like irrigation, ventilation; and monitor or adjust window coverings. The OmniTouch 7 also acts as an interface to Leviton’s Hi-Fi 2 Distributed Audio System or a compatible system from a connectivity partner.

Developed using Leviton’s new user interface engine and featuring high processing power, the device allows users to customize and incorporate their connected devices – such as additional lights, thermostats or cameras – with a swipe on the screen. Two digital MEMS microphones along with a built-in amplifier and speaker improve noise and echo cancellation. In addition, the light sensor allows automatic dimming of the display backlight on the glass front capacitive OmniTouch 7.
