February 27, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Electrofuel Inc. (Toronto, ON) recently introduced the Electrofuel 2100, a new high-performance rechargeable battery in their Slim Line. The new battery is designed to provide twice the talk-time and standby power of existing cellular battery packs of comparable size. It delivers more than 2,100mA of power, compared with 900mA offered by conventional cellular batteries. Designed to work with Nokia 5000-6000 model phones, the Electrofuel 2100 is designed to provide 8 to 10 hours of talk time, or six days of stand-by time. It weighs less than 55 grams.

"Mobile phone users want longer-lasting, lighter batteries," said Sankar Das Gupta, president and CEO of the company. "Electrofuel has created a battery that will support the increased demand of wireless communications users. We will continue to break boundaries with our lithium-ion SuperPolymer technology to compliment these innovations."

The Slim Line will be priced at $99.95, and will be shipping in the fourth quarter of 2000.
