DongAh 10.8kW Power Shelf Powers The Sprint / Samsung WiMAX Deployment

February 27, 2008 by Jeff Shepard

DongAh USA has introduced its SWPR-4200 series power shelf, which is the power-system behind Sprint and Samsung’s next generation 4G wireless network known as WiMax, which is being deployed nationally. It is claimed that the new service will provide wireless access nearly four times faster than current technology.

DongAh utilized its SWPR-4200 series power shelf as the heart of the 10.8kW power system that includes ac and dc power distribution, 4 hot-swap/redundant rectifiers, weather-proof enclosure and heat exchanger. The SWPR-4200 series is a 19" Rack Mount Shelf with 4-bays to accommodate 4 hot-swap/redundant power modules delivering 200A of -54Vdc. The shelf includes complete battery management, digital interface with the WiMax System, power distribution panels, circuit breakers, low voltage disconnect, battery management circuits, and a front panel LCD display. Through the software interface, each WiMax power system is remote monitored and controlled for enhanced performance and reliability.

Working closely with Samsung, DongAh developed the power system for direct installation at WiMax deployments throughout the United States. Specifications for the SWPR-4200 are available for download and are available for immediate delivery with a cost of $3,500.00 each in 250 piece quantities.
