Artesyn Launches the SSL20C and SSL40C Series of Power Supplies

July 18, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Artesyn Technologies (UK) has launched two new series of ac/dc external power supplies for applications that demand small, efficient outboard power sources. The SSL40C Series of 20W power supplies and the SSL40C Series of 40W power supplies employ switch-mode technology and are suitable for use with cable modems and xDSL modems, as well as applications in the data communications, telecommunications and computer peripheral markets.

All models in the SSL20C and SSL40C Series feature a universal input that accomodates any mains voltage in the range of 90Vac to 264Vac. Housed in a UL94V-0-rated plastic enclosure, the power supplies measure 1.08in x 4.65in x 2.4in. Both series have an MTBF of 150,000 hours. The SSL20C and SSL40C power supplies are protected against over-voltage and short-circuit conditions, and are approved to all relevant international safety standards for stand-alone equipment, including UL, CSA and VDE.

The SSL20C Series provides up to 20W of continuous power under normal convection cooling, and is available with a single dc output of 5V, 12V, 15V, 18V, 24V or 48V. The 5V model is capable of delivering 4A continuously. The SSL40C Series has a continuous power rating of 40W, and is available with a single dc output of 12V, 15V, 18V, 24V or 48V.

Pricing for Artesyn's SSL20C is $21.49 in 1,000-piece quantities. The SSL40C is available for $23.35 in the same quantities. The standard lead-time for both products is stock to 12 weeks.
