February 27, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

AOpen America Inc. (San Jose, CA) has announced a new version of its switching power supply series, the 12V SPS300-60BT. According to AOpen, the unit is fully ATX2.03- and AMD Athlon-certified and meets all specifications for the new Pentium 4 Processor. It is AOpen's latest ATX 12V-compliant power supply, and features an additional 4-pin connector to provide more power to the Pentium 4 processor at 12V. The units deliver a maximum of 300W to fully support the Pentium 4 CPU power requirements.

Specifications of the AOpen SPS300-60BT Series include low noise and ripple, output over-voltage protection, short-circuit protection, remote ON/OFF control and MTBF ratings in excess of 100K hours at 25 degrees C. The power supply gives transient response of less than 1 millisecond, following a 25 percent load change. The AOpen SPS300-60BT Series also comes with a ball bearing fan and the fan noise killer option.

"The new generation of processors requires very high performance and precision output voltages," says Paul Su, president of Aopen America Inc. "As part of our strategy to drive for new, innovative products, it starts with a high-efficiency, very reliable power

solution like our AOpen SPS300-60BT series."

The SPS300-60BT is currently available and is priced at $79.99, including a three-year warranty.
