Advance-Galatrek Launches PowerPak DC Power Supply Range

February 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Advance-Galatrek (UK) has launched a new range of dc power supplies. The company claims that its latest models in the PowerPak range offer modular expansion, ease of maintenance and remote management and control capabilities.

Each model within the PowerPak range is capable of exceeding demands for telecom-grade dc power throughout 24/7 networks, with system architecture developed to take advantage of plug-and-play operability and N+1 configuration. Each system is designed from the outset to provide battery performance and remote management and control over the Internet.

PowerPak rectifiers incorporate active filters that maintain the purity of the power supply by shielding the system from extraneous local spikes and electrical noise. Furthermore, PowerPak is compatible with the company's range of StrikeSafe transient voltage surge suppressors (TVSS). These additional devices can be incorporated within the PowerPak installation and are suitable for exposed or industrial sites. The addition of the TVSS prevents system damage that may arise from locally-generated transients, or from a nearby lightning strike.

PowerPak is designed to operate utilizing either the local mains supply or a connected battery pack. In order to reduce battery usage, the systems each deploy microprocessor-based rectifiers with a wide input voltage window. This is supplemented by a battery-charging system. In addition to the standard models in the PowerPak range, Advance-Galatrek is also offering a version that incorporates an SNMP interface module with Ethernet, RS232 and signal contact ports.
