Zetex Intros ZV950 Series of Varactor Diodes

September 16, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Zetex Inc. (Hauppauge, NY) announced its new ZV950 Series of hyper-abrupt varactor diodes with a tuning range from 0.5V to 2.5V, which are designed to meet the needs of 3V frequency control and filtering systems. The ZV950 Series varactors are suitable for crystal oscillator temperature-stabilizing circuits, the loop and filter sections of phase-lock loops, and any product design containing frequency control and filtering functions.

The varactors provide high-Q operation at a reverse voltage as low as 0.5V. Typically 10pA, the low reverse-leakage current of the devices ensure phase-noise performance. Three low-voltage varactors have been launched in the miniature SOD523 package. For a bias voltage of 0.5V and a frequency of 1MHz, the nominal capacitances of the ZV950, ZV952 and ZV953 are 9.5pF, 19pF and 45pF, respectively.

Pricing for the ZV950 Series is $0.285 for 3,000-piece quantities. Delivery is within four to six weeks in production volumes.
