Zetex Introduces New ZXCL Series of LDO Regulators

October 08, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Zetex Inc. (Commack, NY) has introduced the ZXCL Series of LDO regulators designated for use in low-power and space-critical applications. The devices are available in the SC70 package, which measures 2 x 1.25 x 1.0mm, or in the larger five-pin SOT23 package with an industry-standard pinout.

Zetex claims that the output current of up to 150mA matches the performance of larger SOT23 alternatives. Quiescent current is 25uA, providing power savings for portable and battery-powered applications. Power consumption is also reduced by a shut-down mode that consumes less than 1.0uA. Output voltages of 2.6V, 2.8V and 3.3V are intended to offer flexibility to meet the needs of a wide range of applications. The devices have a dropout voltage of 85mV at a load of 50mA. Each part also features on-chip thermal overload and over-current protection.

Priced at $0.26 each in quantities of 10,000, initial quantities of the ZXCL Series are available from stock, building to production volumes in February 2001.
