Zetex Debuts New ZXTP2006E6 PNP Transistor

July 30, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Zetex Semiconductors (UK), a subsidiary of Zetex plc (Chadderton, Oldham), debuted its new ZXTP2006E6 PNP transistor, from the Zetex Generation 5 bipolar process, which offers a switched load power-handling capability of 70 W. The the ZXTP2006E6 is the latest addition to Zetex's range of "Miniature Package Power Solutions™" and uses the sub 3 mm² footprint and maximum 1.45 mm off-board height of a SOT23-6 package to help designers optimize board size.

Characterised by the Generation 5's low saturation voltage, arising from a reduced component resistance, the ZXTP2006E6 provides designers with a high-efficiency solution for battery-charging, dc-dc converter, and general power-management tasks. The 20 V PNP transistor exhibits a -130 mV maximum VCE(sat) for an Rsat rating of just 31 mΩ, and can sustain a continuous collector current of 3.5 A. Its high hFE capability also helps minimize the drive requirements; for example, the gain offered at 1 A is at least 300.

The new ZXTP2006E6 is priced at $0.27 in quantities of 10,000 units.
