XP Power Releases Ultra Slim DIN Rail AC-DC Power Supply Series With 92% Efficiency
XP Power announced the availability of its DRS series of DIN rail mounted ac-dc power supplies. The company states that the series, comprising 80, 120 and 240W single output models, offers exceptional efficiency levels of 89–92%.
Believed by XP Power to be one of the slimmest DIN rail power supplies available on the market, each model of the DRS series is extremely thin. The 80 Watt DRS80 model measures just 1.26 x 4.0 x 4.88 inches (32 x 102 x 124 mm), and the 240W DRS240 model measures 2.36 x 4.60 x 4.88 inches (60 x 113 x 124mm). The compact nature of the DRS series is said to yield above average power density for DIN rail units of up to 4.5W per cubic inch. The DRS series accommodates the universal input range of 85 264Vac without the need for any input range selectors. This makes the series suitable for a wide variety of high line and low line applications.
The series provides the output voltage variants of 12, 24 or 48Vdc. The outputs are capable of being adjusted above the nominal voltages. The 12Vdc output can be increased up to 15Vdc, the 24 to 28.5Vdc and the 48Vdc up to 56Vdc. Being able to provide such a wide range of output voltage adjustment allows users to deploy the same power supply in a variety of different configurations. All models can accommodate a peak load 150% of nominal rating for up to a maximum of 4 seconds. This suits applications that need a high startup current or those where short peaks are anticipated. In this way, a lower power rated and less expensive power supply can be specified instead of a higher rated unit. The 120 and 240W models have a DC OK volt free contact as standard.
Capable of operating over a wide range of temperatures from -20°C, the DRS80 and DRS120 can provide full power output up to + 60°C. The DRS240 operates without derating to + 50°C. All units operate above these temperatures with derating to +70°C.
The devices are priced at $74.10 for the DRS80 to $155.22 for the DRS240 in OEM quantities.
