Warner Power Develops New Custom Power Supply

October 28, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Warner Power LLC (Warner, NH) announced the development of a new custom power supply for an innovative application at a midwest factory owned by a global supplier of power equipment. The power supply cut the average curing time for large transformers (750kVA to 3,000kVA) from 12 to 4 hours. Previously, the transformers were cured in large ovens.

The new system uses the internal resistance of the transformer windings to provide the curing temperatures. The system is fully automated for enhanced process control and consistancy. It automatically adjusts to the size of the coil to be cured. A feedback loop for interfacing with other plant equipment is also part of the system.
