Vishay Unveils MKP1841-M Series PPF Capacitors

December 04, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) introduced the new MKP1841-M Series of metallized, PPF capacitors, which are available with 25 capacitance options from 470pF to 4.7µF; ±5 percent, ±10 percent and ±20 percent tolerance levels; and voltage options of 250Vdc, 400Vdc and 630Vdc, as well as 1kVdc, 1.6kVdc, and 2kVdc. The devices are designed for use in high-voltage, high-current and high-pulse operations at high frequencies, and protection circuits in power supplies, snubbers and electronic ballast circuits.

The capacitors are available with case sizes ranging from 4mm x 10mm x 9mm to 18mm x 41.5mm x 32.5mm with lead-spacing options from 7.5mm to 37.5mm. The devices are packaged in a flame-retardant plastic case with an epoxy resin seal, and use lead-free schooping layers and terminals and vacuum-deposited aluminum electrodes. The MKP1841-M Series has a maximum pulse rise time from 33V/µs to 9.61kV/µs and a lifespan >300,000h. The capacitors are rated for operation over the -55 to +100 degrees C temperature range.
