Vishay Intros SSA23L-SSC54 Schottky Rectifiers

January 05, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new SSA23L through SSC54 Schottky rectifiers in the SMA, SMB and SMC packages, which are intended for power supplies; high-frequency dc-dc converters; high-frequency inverters; free-wheeling diodes; and polarity protection in end products, including power supply systems, notebook PCs, motherboards, LCD monitors, DVD players, printers, and battery chargers for cellular and cordless phones and digital cameras.

The new devices are capable of handling higher levels of current in less space than industry-standard devices. The SMA-packaged rectifier can handle 2A or 3A, versus the industry-standard value of 1A. The SMB- and SMC-packaged, high-current-density, Schottky rectifiers can handle 4A and 5A, respectively, versus industry-standard values of 2A and 3A.

The three package outline options available are the DO-214AC (SMA), the DO-214AA (SMB) and the DO-214AB (SMC), each of which features a plastic package with Underwriters Laboratory Flammability Classification 94V-0 and built-in strain relief. The devices are rated for a maximum operating junction temperature of +150°C, as well as for 25kV ESD capability.

Samples and production quantities are available now, with lead times of four to six weeks for larger orders. Pricing for 10,000-piece quantities ranges from $0.05 to $0.12.
