Vishay Intros 339 X2 Series Film Capacitors

December 02, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new 339 X2 Series of compact, lead (Pb)-free, electromagnetic interference suppression film capacitors that combine a wide range of capacitance values with pitch sizes down to 7.5mm. Suitable for filters, power supplies and mains applications, the capacitors have IEC 60384-14 (second edition) and EN 132400 approvals for X2 suppression.

The 339 X2 Series offers capacitance values ranging from 0.001µF to 4.7µF with tolerances rated at either ±10% or ±20%. The height of the capacitors with values greater than 100nF is lowered by between 1mm and 2mm. Lead pitch for the capacitors ranges from 7.5mm to 27.5mm. The capacitors are constructed using a low inductive wound cell of metallized polypropylene film potted in a flame-retardant case made of material that is qualified in accordance with UL94V-O. The maximum operating temperature for the components is 105°C.

All of the new devices have a rated voltage of 275Vac at 50Hz/60Hz, with maximum permissible dc voltage specified as 630Vdc. The capacitors can be supplied loose in a box or taped in ammopack or reel format.
