Vishay Introduces the Dale WSC6927 Resistor

August 21, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new Dale WSC6927 molded surface-mount wirewound resistor, which provides what is claimed to be the industry's highest derating temperature. It offers a 3W power rating at 70 degrees C and derates linearly to 275 degrees C. It also extends the derating temperature by up to 77 percent, which results in higher-power operation at elevated temperatures, according to the company.

The resistor exhibits resistance values ranging from 0.1ohm to 2.6kiloohms, with tolerance of ±0.5 percent, ±1 percent and ±5 percent. These specifications make the device suitable for use as a power supply bleeder resistor or series dropping resistor in pulsing applications and voltage divider circuits. These applications are commonly found in automobile electronic controls, satellite receivers, instrumentation, home-entertainment products and fixed telecommunications systems.
