Vishay Intertechnology Introduces New WSL Power Metal Strip Resistor Series

February 20, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) recently released a new SMD power metal-film resistor series, a high-frequency chip inductor and a temperature-sensing power MOSFET. The WSL Power Metal Strip resistor series, WSL0805, is rated at 1/8W. The device is designed to provide current sensing in power-management applications for cellular phones and pagers, disk-drive motor controls in computers, and a wide range of automotive applications, including electronic engine controls, entertainment and climate-control systems.

The WSL0805 features an operating temperature range from -65 degrees to +170 degrees C. The temperature coefficient of resistance (+/-75ppm/degrees C) is designed to ensure consistent performance even at extreme temperatures. The IFC-0603/0805 high-frequency, surface-mount chip inductor is designed for the wireless communications market. The device offers inductance values ranging from 1.5nH to 47nH, and tolerance as low as two percent.

The SUB60N04-15LT temperature-sensing power MOSFET is a 40V device in a five-pin D2PAK package. It combines a 15-mohm power MOSFET with back-to-back poly-silicon diodes integrated onto the MOSFET chip. The SUB60N04-15LT provides a 175 degrees C maximum junction temperature and a 2,000V ESD rating.
