Vishay Intertechnology Introduces New Si9113DY PWM Controller

February 06, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) recently announced the Si9113DY high-voltage PWM controller for ISDN power supplies. The device provides multiple output dc-to-dc conversion for ISDN applications while meeting CCITT and ETR-080 requirements. The Si9113DY is designed for systems requiring as much as 10W of power and will be used in power supplies for future phones, PBX systems, modems, NT1 and NT1+ equipment, subscriber line interface circuits, and dc/dc conversion modules.

The Si9113DY has an input-voltage range from 23.5V to 200V, which is claimed to eliminate the need for an external start-up circuit. A dedicated internal comparator enables accurate programmable start and stop-input voltage thresholds, and eliminates the need for an external zener diode or high-end transformer. A 500kHz internal oscillator provides a user-selectable 15kHz to 250kHz converter-output frequency, and the device is packaged in a 14-pin SOIC.

"The Si9113DY offers high-efficiency operation across its entire input-voltage range while giving designers a high level of functional integration," said Tony Armstrong, product marketing director at Vishay Siliconix. "As such, it's the core of a total solution that is simple to implement and very affordable compared to the alternatives."

In quantities of 100,000, pricing for the Si9113DY is $1.22 each.
