Vishay Debuts IFCB-0402/IFCB-0603 Chip Inductors

March 29, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced its new Dale IFCB-0402 and IFCB-0603 thin film chip inductors in compact 0402 and 0603 case sizes that provide high Q values up to 49 at specified frequencies from 100 MHz to 1,700 MHz. The IFCB-0402 and IFCB-0603 provide stable inductance during high-frequency operation in communications devices such as cell phones, pagers, GPS devices and wireless LANs, as well as for VCO, TCXO circuits and RF transceiver modules.

The IFCB-0402 provides inductance values ranging from 1.0 nH to 22 nH, while the IFCB-0603 is available in a range of values between 1.0 nH and 68 nH. Both inductors feature inductance tolerance of 0.3 nH from 1.0 nH to 8.2 nH, with 2% and 5% tolerances available. With dimensions of 0.039 in x 0.02 in (1.0 mm x 0.5 mm) and 0.063 in x 0.031 in (1.60 mm x 0.80 mm) and height profiles of 0.013 in (0.32 mm) and 0.018 in (0.45 mm), respectively, the IFCB-0402 and IFCB-0603 allow for the design of smaller end products for communications markets. They feature a lead-free and RoHS-compliant construction, and are compatible with reflow or flow soldering.

The inductors are rated for operation over a temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C with no load and for -40 °C to +80 °C at full rated current, which at 1.0 nH reaches 700 mA for the IFCB-0402 and 800 mA for the IFCB-0603. Samples and production quantities of the new inductors are available now. Lead time for production quantities is six to eight weeks. Pricing for US delivery only in 10,000-piece quantities is $0.035 for the IFCB-0402 and $0.045 for the IFCB-0603.
