Vishay Debuts ESTAprop/ESTAdry Capacitors

April 18, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology Inc. (Malvern, PA) announced the release of a new series of one-phase and three-phase power-factor correction capacitors in tubular aluminum casings that provide a small diameter and a low height profile. The ESTAprop oil-impregnated capacitor and the ESTAdry dry-dielectric capacitor rely on low-loss, self-healing, metallized, polypropylene film technology to provide power-factor correction in a wide range of low-voltage (<1,000V) electric utility and industrial applications, including motors and transformers.

Within the 400V to 525V range, the new ESTA capacitors feature a height reduction of more than 20 percent (from 340mm to 265mm) while maintaining small diameters of 64mm and 84mm. As a result, the new capacitors fit perfectly into 300mm cubicle modules with a multiple 25kvar step output, enabling more modules to be installed in a single cabinet.

The devices in the ESTAprop and ESTAdry Series are available in standard rated voltages of 230V, 400V, 440V (415V), 525V (480V) and 660V (690V), with rated outputs up to 30kvar at 50c/s, depending on the voltage rating. Additional kvar values are available in voltage ratings ranging from 230V to 1,000V.

Samples and production quantities of the ESTAprop and ESTAdry capacitors are available now, with lead times from stock to 10 weeks for larger orders.
