Vicor Intros 300V Family of DC/DC Converter Modules

May 31, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Vicor Corp. (Andover, MA) has introduced a 300V family of second-generation dc/dc converter modules. The new modules are designed for off-line applications, especially in telecom and main frame systems. All of the modules operate from 300V nominal input (with an input range of 180V to 375V) and have power densities of up to 100W/cubic inch. These dc/dc converter modules use second-generation power processing, control and packaging technologies for higher performance, lower profile and reduced part count. The pre-defined 300V family comprises three package sizes (Maxi, Mini and Micro) each offering output voltages of 2, 3.3, 5, 12, 15, 24, 28 and 48Vdc. The family offers output powers from 50 to 500W. All the modules incorporate the same advanced features as other second-generation converters, such as packaging, high-temperature rating, wide output trim range, and paralleling for higher power and redundancy. Compatible accessory products will include 300V input attenuator and filter modules. Prices start as low as $0.38/W in 100-piece quantities and units are available from stock.
