Vicor Announces the Availability of M-Grade DC/DC Converters

March 12, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Vicor Corp. (Andover, MA) recently announced the availability of a new low-operating temperature grade, the M-Grade that is designed for military environments, for use on all second-generation dc/dc converters.

According to Vicor, the baseplate operating temperature range of -55 degrees to +100 degrees C improves the suitability of these converters for commercial off-the-shelf applications. The modules incorporate a new high-performance encapsulant material. Vicor's facilities are ISO 9001-registered and also approved to MIL-I-45208. Vicor second-generation dc/dc converters include the 48V, 300V and 375V input families, each having three package sizes, MaxiMod, MiniMod and MicroMod, providing eight standard output voltages between 2Vdc and 48Vdc. Maximum output power for both the 48V and 300V input families is 500W. Output power for the 375V input is up to 600W. This product grade is differentiated from previous grades by the low operating temperature, environmental stress screening (temperature cycling and burn-in) and test data reporting.

Prices start at $0.84 per watt for M-grade converters in quantities of 100.
