V-Infinity Intros New VPOL Series Converters

December 28, 2004 by Jeff Shepard

V-Infinity LLC (Beaverton, OR) introduced its new VPOL Series of industry-standard, point-of-load (POL), dc-dc converters intended for a range of distributed power architecture applications, including mobile communications and computing.

Available in 5 A, 15 A and 16 A versions, the non-isolated VPOL Series offers efficiencies of up to 94%, while operating within a temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C. The low-profile SIP and SMT units measure 22.9 mm x 13.76 mm x 5.6 mm in the 5 A SIP models and 20.3 mm x 11.43 mm x 6.1 mm in the 5 A SMT version.

The VPOL Series accepts an input of 5 V or 12 V with output voltages ranging from 0.75 V to 5.0 V. Trimmable output voltage is available via an external resistor. Features include remote on/off, continuous short-circuit protection, output over-current protection and over-temperature protection.

All VPOL units are UL certified. OEM pricing starts at $10.00 per unit. Availability is from five to seven weeks production.
