March 15, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Unipower Telecom (Coral Springs, FL) has unveiled the new Ranger RRS Series rectifier modules, which are hot-swappable and produce 50A at 54.4V or 100A at 27.3V. These switching modules have a power density of 11W per cubic inch, stand 3.5 inches tall and require two mounting positions of rack space.

The Ranger RRS Series modules have automatic load sharing and integral ORing diodes. They feature power factor correction, class B EMI filter, and 170Vac to 264Vac input range. In addition, the devices have an adjustable output voltage of 45V to 58V, or 22.5V to 29V. Adjustments can be made via a remote dc input or via a front panel. Other features include system monitoring and control functions like ac good, dc good, thermal alarm, remote enable remote adjust and remote sensing. The rectifiers also meet UL, CSA and EN safety standards and are CE-marked.

The Ranger Series RRS48/50 and RRS24/100 rectifier families are priced as low as $1,154 each in large quantities. The companion 19-inch shelves, the RRS2U-19, are priced starting at $517 each, also in large quantities. Delivery is six to eight weeks ARO.
