UNIPOWER Offers I²C Option to PowerCassette Series

July 10, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

UNIPOWER Corp. (Coral Springs, FL) announced that its PowerCassette® Series power supplies now have an industry-standard I²C serial bus interface option, which gives the status of system-critical operating parameters. The new option permits the monitoring of these parameters on demand by a host system or computer.

Three forms of data are available from the PowerCassette by means of its I²C capability: inventory control information, operating status indication and system load data. The units are also able to withstand input-voltage surges of 2kV line-to-neutral and 4kV line- or neutral-to-ground while monitoring continuous I²C output data.

The PowerCassette is a 1U-high switching power supply available as a multi-output model at up to 600W output or as a single-output model at up to 800W output. The models come in either hot-swap or chassis-mount versions and have two- and three-unit, 19in, 1U-racks available for the hot-swap versions. The PowerCassette features power-factor correction, single-wire current sharing, output OR-ing diodes on the hot-swap versions, remote sensing, adjustable output voltages, no-load operation, a universal input-range of 85Vac to 264Vac, over-voltage protection and over-temperature protection.

Next-day delivery is available for small quantities of many of the 508 listed models. Pricing of the PowerCassette in high volumes is $430.
