Unipower Announces New DC-Input PowerCassette Power Supply

June 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Unipower Corp. (Coral Springs, FL) announced that its new PowerCassette is now available as a dc-input power supply, in addition to the previously introduced ac-input version. The dc-input voltage range is 36Vdc to 72Vdc with inrush current limiting. The input has an EMI filter and fast transient and surge protection. The PowerCassette is suitable for networking, storage and communications needs.

Like the ac version, the dc-input PowerCassette model provides up to six outputs, including a 5Vdc, 1A independent standby output. Maximum continuous output power is 600W, and available output voltages are from 1.2Vdc to 24Vdc. It comes in an ultra-compact, low-profile case, measuring 1.6in x 1.5in x 11in, realizing 6.8W per-cubic-inch in power density. Internal fan cooling is incorporated.

Unipower’s PowerCassette incorporates an array of features, including hot-swap capability as standard with O-Ring diodes on all outputs, single-wire current sharing, power-factor correction, Class B EMI filters, remote sensing, adjustable outputs, no-load operation, and control and monitoring features. The system is 1U-compatible and ready to wire in. A hot-swap rack is also available for instant system integration of a fault-tolerant power system using minimum rack height.

High-volume pricing for the power modules are as low as $385. Small-quantity deliveries are four to six weeks ARO.
