Tyco Electronics Power Systems (Dallas, TX) announced a new surface-mount version of its LUW025 Series of low-profile, single-output, open-frame, 25W, dc/dc converters. The new LUW025 Series modules are designed to enable manufacturers of communications equipment to handle the challenges of on-going migration toward lower-voltage components and restricted board space.
The new converters feature a profile of 8.5mm (0.335in); a small footprint of 50mm x 50mm (1.97in x 1.97in); an input-voltage range of 36Vdc to 75Vdc (48V nominal); a regulated 5V or 3.3V output at 5A; an
efficiency of 80 percent; remote on/off; and over-temperature, over-current and over-voltage protection. The modules are
designed to meet requirements for basic insulation.
The LUW025 modules are priced at $38 in 1,000-unit quantities, and samples
are now available.
