Tyco Electronics Debuts Lead-Free nanoSMDM Series

January 07, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Tyco Electronics Power Components/Raychem Circuit Protection Division (Menlo Park, CA) announced that its nanoSMDM Series of PolySwitch resettable devices is now available in a lead-free design. The new lead-free components feature gold-plated terminals and can be installed with both leaded and lead-free solders, facilitating migration to lead-free manufacturing and assembly.

Designed for use in portable electronics, computers and peripherals, telecom equipment, and automotive applications, the nanoSMDM device provides resettable circuit protection in applications where board space is the highest priority. The small form factor (1206) device is available for operating currents of 0.5A, 0.75A and 1.0A. The device helps protect circuits up to 6V from over-current surges of up to 40A.

Samples of the lead-free nanoSMDM device are available in tape-and-reel packages for evaluation purposes. Available now, prices start at $0.23 each in volume with a delivery lead-time of four to six weeks ARO.
