November 30, 2009 by Jeff Shepard

Tumbler Technologies + TRUMPower announced the new TMC60 series of 37.5-64W medical grade ac-dc switching power supplies. These convection-cooled power supplies are a very compact 2 x 4 x 1.18 inches and priced at $16.90 for OEM quantity.

The TMC60 open frame PCB series comes in 12 standard models, featuring either single, dual, or triple outputs. Output voltages range from 5 to 48Vdc; input voltages can be anywhere within 90-264Vac, 47-63 Hz.. An optional cover and fan assembly can be added during manufacturing.

The series has approval for medical and ITE safety standards of UL 60601-1, CSA C22.2 No. 601.1, EN60601-1, and EN60950-1. and are RoHS compliant. It also meets the EMI standards of EN55011 / EN55022, FCC, and VCCI class B conducted and radiated limits. The units comply with EN6100-3-2 class A and D, EN6100-3-3, EN6100-4-2, EN6100-4-3, EN6100-4-4, EN6100-4-5, EN6100-4-6, EN6100-4-8, and EN6100-4-11.

The TMC60 series is efficient and reliable, offering a minimum MTBF of 400,000 hours at full load and 25°C ambient, calculated per MIL-HDBK-217F. Efficiency is 80-88% on most models. The units can be fully loaded at -10 to +70°C ambient, with derating required from 100% at +50°C linearly to 50% at +70°C.

The power supplies come with overvoltage protection, for the main output, and overcurrent protection for all outputs. Withstand voltage is 4000Vac from input to output, 1500 VAC from input to ground, and 500Vac from output to ground. Earth leakage current is as low as 150 µA max @ 264Vac / 60 Hz.

Lead time for the units is 3-5 weeks.
