TrenchFET power MOSFETs

November 14, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (Malvern, PA) recently introduced eight new power MOSFETs for automotive applications. The new MOSFETs include the first Little Foot TSOP-6 devices rated at 60V and Vishay's new TrenchFETs. The Si3458DV (n-channel) and Si3459DV (p-channel) are the first 60V power MOSFETs in Vishay's Little Foot TSOP-6 package with a footprint of 3mm by 2.95mm. The TSOP-6 products offer on-resistance of 100 milliohms for the n-channel device and 200 milliohms for the p-channel device. The TSOP-6 devices are designed for data storage applications, office automation programmable controllers and industrial battery packs. Vishay also introduced two n-channel TrenchFETs with a 75V maximum breakdown voltage rating. The higher breakdown voltage of the SUP75N08-09L (TO-220) and SUB75N08-09L (D2PAK) are designed to provide more headroom for voltage spikes and to allow the use of these devices with no extra protection on dual battery systems. In quantities of 100,000, pricing for the Si3458DV is $0.39 each, $0.46 each for the Si3459DV, and starts at $1.14 each for devices in the TO-220 and D2PAK.
