Tracewell Debuts cPCI/VME64x/PXI Power Supply

September 18, 2003 by Jeff Shepard

Tracewell Systems Inc. (Columbus, OH) announced its new TTX Series power supplies, which includes what the company claims is the first 400W, 3U, one-slot power supply and 400W, 6U, one-slot power supply for cPCI systems. The TTX Series features a PICMG 2.11 power interface specification; an input-voltage range of 24Vdc, 48Vdc and ac; a digital method for load sharing; a dual, soft-switching bridge architecture with integrated planar magnetics; and 500kHz switching.

The TTX is suitable for use in high-availability computer, data storage and telecom applications where system up-time is critical. The TTX utilizes a patent-pending topology, and an isolated, fixed, 500kHz switching frequency that utilizes dual soft-switching bridge architecture with integrated planar magnetics. The main system CPU can provide look-ahead health assessment for early warnings of imminent failure, faulty connectors and other latent problems before they become critical. Voltage percentages and load balancing can also be verified. The TTX Series does not use dc/dc converters, which

allows for competitive pricing and flexibility.
