Trace Intros SineWave Communications Adapter

July 04, 1999 by Jeff Shepard

Trace Engineering (Arlington, WA) has announced their new SineWave Communications Adapter (SWCA), which allows for remote set-up, adjustment and troubleshooting and monitoring of SW Series inverters from a personal computer. Connection to the SWCA can be made via 4-connector phone type cable or with standard PC modems over a telephone line. The adapter comes with LED on-line indicator, and a serial port adapter (RJ11 phone jack to DB9 connector) for connection of the phone type cable to the PC. It also comes with a 25 foot cable.

SineWave control panel software is included as part of the package. All menu settings and LED indicators are displayed on the PC computer screen. The software allows local connection to the converter (up to 1000 feet using a PC computer serial port and standard phone type cable).

Terminal emulation software can also be used with any PC or MAC computer to connect and adjust the settings instead of using the DOS software. The SWCA can be used to do troubleshooting by accessing meters and effort conditions from the home or office. Software developed by third party vendors will allow collection and manipulation of the data transmitted by the SWCA from the SW Series inverter.
