May 03, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Thomson Airpax Mechatronics (Cheshire, CT) released its newly developed, high-torque 44mm permanent magnet stepper motor, Series 44M100D. The new motor, which weighs 80g, was designed for limited-space applications. Applications include electronic component delivery systems, precision testing instrumentation, in vitro diagnostic equipment, blood analyzers, medical fluid management and dispensing, and pharmaceutical packaging.

The 3.6-degree angle step motor, 100 steps per revolution, measures 1.7" by 0.48". Available in bipolar version only, the motor produces 30mNm pull-out torque at 150pps, when driven with a 24Vdc chopper drive. Other key specifications are 2W input power per winding, a holding torque of 3.8mNm minimum, and permanently lubricated sleeve bearings.

Unit pricing for the Series 44M100D motor in 500-piece quantities is $9.95.
