Texas Instruments Introduces New Excalibur Series Power Modules
Texas Instruments (Dallas, TX) recently introduced a new Excalibur Series of 25W, dual-output power modules designed to provide plug-in power solutions for DSP-based applications, the PT6930 Series. Available with 3.3V/6A and 1.8V/1.7A laser-trimmed outputs, both output voltages of the PT6930 Series are independently adjustable with an external resistor. The second output voltage can also be adjusted as low as 1.2V to accommodate future integrated circuits and DSPs.
The PT6930 Series also features internal sequencing that meets the latest requirements of the TMS320C6000 platform for voltage ramp-up and ramp-down. Other features of the PT6930 Series include remote sense for both outputs, standby, soft-start and over-temperature protection.
"As power management becomes more and more complex, companies are looking to buy a total power-management solution instead of spending valuable designer time making their own," said Don Matthiesen, product marketing manager for Texas Instruments' plug-in power solutions. "With the PT6930, designers are able to eliminate the design work normally associated with power management, providing significant time-to-market advantages."
The PT6930 is currently available in a 23-pin thermally efficient package, and in a surface-mount and vertical or horizontal through-hole configuration of 2.6" x 1.0" x 0.43". In quantities of 1,000, the suggested resale price of the PT6930 is $24.20.
