Texas Instruments Announces the bq2057 Series

June 24, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Texas Instruments (TI, Dallas, TX) announced the bq2057 Series of single- or two-cell lithium-ion and lithium-polymer low-dropout linear charge management ICs. TI claims that the new products combine high-accuracy current and voltage regulation for maximum-capacity battery conditioning, temperature monitoring, charger termination, charge-status indication and AutoComp charge-rate compensation in a single eight-pin IC. The bq2057 enables low-dropout charger designs of less than 0.3V when using a PNP-transistor or p-channel MOSFET.

TI reports that the single-cell versions of the bq2057 are currently available in MSOP-8 packaging. All options are priced at $1.25 per 1,000.
