TDI Debuts RBL and RBL488 Series of Electronic Loads

April 02, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

TDI Transistor Devices (Randolph, NJ) debuted the new RBL and RBL488 Series of single-channel electronic loads suitable for testing large batteries, power supplies, fuel cells and other related dc-power equipment. Features include ratings from 0 to 1,000V, 0 to 1,000A, and up to 4,000W in a single unit. Operation is below 0.5V at 1,000A.

TDI's new loads are offered in an 800W version, a 2,000W version and a 4,000W version. These measure 8" x 5.25" x 22"; 19" x 5.25" x 22" and 19" x 8.75" x 22", respectively. They offer five modes of operation: constant current, constant resistance, constant power, constant voltage and pulse mode.

Other features of the RBL and RBL488 Series include synchronized paralleling to create larger systems that are controlled simultaneously, an internal pulse generator with variable slew adjust, and GUI or lab view drivers for IEEE-488 and RS232 computer control.
