Taiyo Yuden Introduces the PFC350 Switch-Mode Power Supply

September 21, 2000 by Jeff Shepard

Taiyo Yuden Inc. (San Marcos, CA), formerly known as Xentek Power Systems, recently introduced the PFC350, the latest in its line of compact, modular switch-mode power supplies. Rated at 250W total continuous output power at an operating temperature of 0 degree to 50 degrees C, the unit corrects the input current waveform to better than 0.99 power factor at full load, thereby enabling it to meet stringent IEC 1000-3-2 harmonic-distortion specifications. The PFC350 also complies with CISPR 11/22 EMI requirements, CE low voltage and EMC directives, and other national and international standards.

According to Taiyo Yuden, the PFC350 can accommodate the full spectrum of OEM power supply needs and allow quick prototype delivery or customer modifications to the standard unit. The PFC350 is HALT tested in order to verify design parameters.

Physically, the open-frame switcher measures 0.5" x 5" x 2.44" with full cover. The PFC350 provides four floating outputs from 2Vdc to 48Vdc. In addition to the nine main output voltages, three fully isolated auxiliary voltage outputs may also be selected from 2Vdc to 48Vdc. Several other options are available, including remote on/off with a standby output of 5.1Vdc at 100mA.
