Sustainable Energy Completes Development of Universal DC/DC Converter

May 28, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd. (Canada) has completed development of what it calls a “universal” dc/dc converter. The company already has orders for the new bi-directional dc/dc power converter from several fuel cell companies, as well as some solar panel manufacturers. Delivery of the first units is planned for early June 2001.

“We are very excited about this product, which we believe offers the optimal combination of easy and very rapid customization of its operating characteristics with maximum standardization of hardware components,” said Dr. Matt Donnelly, chief technology officer of the company. “Using the same basic hardware platform, the converter is universally adaptable, through software changes, to virtually any application requiring the conversion of dc power, including batteries, fuel cells and solar panels.”
