Surface-Mount 75V FETs Feature Ultra-low Rds(on) for Industrial Applications

November 06, 2014 by Jeff Shepard

International Rectifier Corp. (IR) announced the expansion of its StrongIRFET™ MOSFET portfolio to include 75V devices for a wide variety of industrial applications including power tools, light wlectric vehicle (LEV) inverters, dc motor drives, Li-ion battery pack protection, hot-swap and switched mode power supply secondary-side synchronous rectification.

The new family of 75V StrongIRFET™ power MOSFETs features ultra-low on-state resistance (Rds(on)) for improved performance in low frequency applications, very high-current carrying capability, soft body diode, and 3V typical threshold voltage to improve noise immunity. The family is headlined by the IRFS7730-7P device in a rugged 7-pin D2pak offering an Rds(on) maximum of only 2mΩ and a peak current of 240A.

Additional devices being introduced are rated from 195A to 56A and, depending on the device, are offered in D-Pak, D2-Pak, PQFN 5 X 6, and D2-Pak 7-lead packages. Each device in the family is 100% avalanche tested at industry highest avalanche current levels to ensure the most robust solution for demanding industrial applications. The devices are also offered in through-hole packages.

“Featuring ultra-low Rds(on) and 100% avalanche tested to demanding industry levels to ensure robustness, IR’s family of 75V StrongIRFET™ devices offers a selection of benchmark performance MOSFETs optimized for the industrial market,” said David Schroeder, Executive Director of Marketing for IR’s Power Management Devices Business Unit.

Pricing for the IRFS7730-7P begins at US $1.27 each in 10,000 unit quantities. Production orders are available immediately.
