Supertex Intros HV9906 Power Supply Controller

August 13, 2002 by Jeff Shepard

Supertex Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) expanded its FlexSwitch power supply controller line with the addition of the HV9906, which enables designers to produce miniature power supplies that can operate continuously at high temperatures and drive a variety of LEDs, including traffic and street lights, emergency lights, automotive head/tail lights, and LED backlights.

The HV9906 is suitable for emerging single-switch PFC/PWM topologies and multi-converters. It can also be used in battery chargers, industrial sensors, PLCs for embedded systems and controls, and for applications from <1W to 150W. The device features a proprietary Integrator Lock Loop technology power supply control scheme and works directly from inputs of 9Vdc to 400Vdc. Other features include soft start, high-frequency operation to reduce magnetic size, a rugged gate driver to drive standard power MOSFETs, and a frequency dither to help meet EMI requirements in certain fixed-frequency applications.

Samples of the new HV9906 are available now in an eight-pin, plastic DIP and SOIC packages. A demo board, the HV9906DB2, is also available.
