Supertex Announces HV301LG Controller IC

September 25, 2001 by Jeff Shepard

Supertex Inc. (Sunnyvale, CA) announced the introduction of its HV301LG hot-swap controller IC with circuit breaker, auto re-entry and negative supply features, while retaining all the HV300LG functions.

It provides complete control of the power supply connection for systems that are always powered on, but require insertion or removal of cards or modules without power disturbance. The auto retry allows systems to clear simple faults without costly service calls, while continuing to protect the system from total shutdown or fire hazards. It uses the Supertex high-voltage CMOS process and a newly patented circuit topology, and is meant for supplies from ±10V to ±90V. It has an active high-status output, while its complement, the HV311LG, has an active low-status output. Applications include telecommunications, server and emerging VOIP systems built in large racks.

Packaged in an industry-standard eight-lead SOIC, pricing for the HV301LG is $1.95 in 10,000-unit pieces. Samples are available now with lead times of four to six weeks ARO.
