June 01, 2005 by Jeff Shepard

SunPower Corp. (Sunnyvale, CA), a silicon solar-cell company and a subsidiary of Cypress Semiconductor Corp., announced a comprehensive new line of SunPower inverters that will be offered to SunPower’s North American customers as part of a fully engineered, high-performance system solution.

The new inverters are offered in three power ratings of 2,000 W (120 V), 2,900 W (208 V) and 3,200 W (240 V). Each model is designed to match the electrical characteristics of the company’s ultra-high efficiency solar panels, thereby maximizing system energy production every day, all year long. The inverters have received the highest efficiency rating in their class as part of an independent testing program developed by the California Energy Commission. The new product line also carries a warranty as a standard feature.

"SunPower’s solar panels already produce up to 50% more power on a typical residential roof compared with conventional panels," stated SunPower CEO Tom Werner. "Our new line of high-efficiency inverters further enhances the performance advantage of SunPower’s solar systems, and allows us to offer our customers an unmatched 10-year standard product warranty on the entire system."
